Alchemist signs Eric Lawson
ERIC LAWSON Eric Lawson’s competitive edge emerged at an early age – he began wrestling at nine years-old. While in college at UC Davis, fellow student Urijah Faber introduced Lawson to mixed martial arts. Lawson fell in love with the sport and has been training and competing ever since. The former youth wrestler and current Strikeforce middleweight fighter holds an impressive 9-3 mixed martial arts record. Lawson’s most memorable moment in MMA came in his first Strikeforce match when he pulled off a second-round submission victory via rear-naked choke in November, 2007 in San Jose. He made a miraculous comeback after a tough first round where he was caught in a deep triangle choke to emerge victorious.
Prior to his MMA career, Lawson rode BMX bikes professionally and competed in the X Games qualifiers in 2002. In his time away from training, Lawson enjoys snowboarding and wakeboarding. Lawson’s motto is, “If it’s not scary, it’s not fun.”
Lawson currently resides in his hometown of Concord, CA with his cat named “Fat Cat.” He works in Northern California as a mortgage broker. In 2004, Lawson graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Economics and a minor in Communications.
